taking pictures in basements

It's really hard to take a good picture in a basement.
I wouldn't know though, really, cause I still haven't take one.
Here are a few shotty pictures of a basement though.

getting messy

I've been making big messes lately.
Trust me when i tell you, it's a huge mess.
A gigantic basement mess.
I'll even let you see a picture of it in it's "before" state soon.
But only because I'm starting to see glimpses of all the hard work starting to shine through.

Also of note is that Lucy wore jeans today.
To school.
For the first time EVER.
And it was all her idea.
{Because her ideas are obviously the best ideas.}
I can't believe that soon she will be in a uniform and going to kinder.    xo

she and him

Today was a blustery day in our otherwise basically bluster-free city.
I spent time with life long friends and left feeling so thankful to have them in my life.
I do realize that not all people have that. Friends that are like sisters. Family really.
And I returned refreshed, to an empty house.
How many times do I wish for this? A few hours of quiet all to myself.
So silly to miss those two after an afternoon away.
I love all these reminders of how good life is.
How we shouldn't take it for granted. Moments. Days.

Celebrating new adventures and champagne toasts with your best girlfriends.
Putting pictures into books while your daughter sits next to you doing the exact same thing.
With a style all her own.
Overhearing bedtime stories that your husband makes up on the spot and being blown away every time at how talented he is and how very lucky she is to have these stories.

I love weekends like these.

camping out

earlier this summer we camped overnight in some wide open spaces,
also known as our front yard. such a fun memory and something i hope
to make a little tradition of.

the highlight of our camp-out was the fact that our dog slept inside all night without us.
I guess he figured we were patrolling and protecting the yard from all of the crazy wildlife
{y'know, possums, racoons and things} for the night.

dog walks, cartoons, coffee, cowboy boots and sun.

The more you strive and search for happiness
the more you overlook the possibility that it is here already.

because sometimes i like to pretend i'm an interior designer

but my husband does not always think it's funny.

Here's a little before and after.

Before: Living in the living room

After: Living in her room.
I gave it a vintage wallpaper re-do with 2 different patterns.

not just another quilt

A birthday gift for my best friend last year.
A best friend since elementary school.
Not many people can say that.

{also excited about alexa chung for madewell}

cause i would have wanted a pink bed too

So, i painted it bright bubble gum pink.

And she loves it.
And I even made her a quilt and finished in plenty of time.
(Dolls need quilts too.)
