i've always been a daydreamer

I don't know what is going on with me, but I've been daydreaming about anything but work lately. This is of course is problematic, because most daydreaming occurs while at work.

Instead, i'm thinking about christmas stockings, holiday decorations, cozy clothes, warm jackets and sewing. I can't stop thinking about sewing. Maybe I just need the change of pace...away from the paper goods for awhile. Or, uh-oh, maybe it's the ability to start a new collection of fabrics? I've been pretty good in that arena actually, trying to use what i have before re-stocking. Maybe the weather just lends itself to sewing more this time of the year. It sure is nice to imagine myself drinking hot tea or cocoa and listening to some good music while sewing away...making beautiful things for myself and friends.
Of course, that never happens. Fabric gets thrown all over the room, threads pollute the floor and the space where the sewing machine is such a mess that you wouldn't dare find a place for a mug of hot cocoa, and if you did you'd probably spill it all over your freshly washed, newly ironed fabrics . . . but the daydream sure is nice, isn't it? Maybe once i get a bit more comfortable with the whole thing this can happen.

I forgot to snap a photo of my WIP today {perhaps tomorrow} which are the christmas stockings that i'm making for us this year. This will be the first christmas that we've ever celebrated at our home. We've never needed stockings in the past. I think it's about time our little family got our own stockings. These were my gift to adam for our anniversary. I figured, it's the 'cotton' year, so I'll be quilting stockings for Adam, Henry, Myself and a few extras for any additional family members that enter our life in the future. {Because it is important that the stockings be a 'collection' of sorts, matching in theme and style. and yes, because I am a dork.

At any rate, I was invited to participate in a christmas ornament swap, and couldn't refuse due to my current holiday spirit. The little banner they made for the swap is what ultimately did me in, do you see how cute it is? You should play too...take a lookie here for all the details {hosted by cake + pie and freshly {blended} ... nice work girls!

I'm in on the ornament swap, too. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Can't wait to see what I come up with, truth be told. Right now I'm having a little creative block.
